Eau Claire (WQOW) - A familiar hardware store on Clairemont Avenue will remain open under new, but equally familiar ownership.
Several social media posts over the weekend shared a disappointing feeling that the hardware store would be closing after decades of business.
On Monday morning, Joel Jacobson, owner of Jacobson's Hardware, said he purchased Thompson's True Value.
Jacobson owns a pair of hardware stores in Chippewa Falls and another on Birch Street in Eau Claire.
The store will remain open as Jacobson and his crew transform the store from the True Value brand to ACE. The ACE transition will happen in March or April.
"We hope we can earn your support and the great level of respect [the] Thompsons earned over their years here," Jacobson said in a letter. "The name on the building may be changing but the legacy will not. We look forward to continuing business here for many years to come."
The building is located at 319 E. Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire.
